Elise Bryan

Born and raised in the Bay Area, Elise has her finger firmly on the pulse of pop culture and how it reflects shifts in society. With a sociology degree from UCLA and a Master’s in Digital Marketing from Wake Forest University, she brings both analytical depth and inventive thinking to the table.

She writes about music, film, and television with a focus on the bigger picture – how stories take shape, who gets to tell them, and what they reveal about the world around us.

Back Burner materialized out of a deep desire to highlight meaningful artistry and explore the power of storytelling across music, film, television, and journalism. It’s about giving attention to work that resonates, challenges, and connects.

Faqs

  • Back Burner is where pop culture gets re-centered. We don’t follow trends. We interrogate them.

Expect sharp, uncompromising takes on music, film, and TV. Think of it as pop culture filtered through a sociological lens – sometimes served with a biting sense of humor.

It is also the place to spotlight emerging voices and stories that the mainstream hasn’t caught up to… yet.

Around here, the back burner is where the real heat’s at.

  • Whatever moves us sonically, visually, culturally for better or for worse. That includes reviews, deep dives, and artist spotlights across music, film, and television. If it speaks to a larger issue culturally, politically, emotionally – we’re on it.

Big names, small names, no-names (for now). The only requirement is impact.

  • Because that’s where the best stuff usually ends up. The uncomfortable. The raw. The not-quite-marketable-yet. We’re here to stir the pot and bring it to a boil.

Every story has its moment. Welcome to the moment.

  • Not even close. We don’t recap. We don’t recycle. And we do NOT publish AI slop.

We dissect, contextualize, and evaluate mainstream phenomena and niche projects waiting for their moment.

  • Absolutely, especially if you’ve got a sharp take, a new perspective, or an underground artist you’d like to platform.
